A truly one of a kind celebration of America’s Appalachian culture and heritage takes place in Logan, Ohio at the annual Washboard Music Festival. The event features ongoing live music, parades, rides, beer garden and a wide variety of festival style foods. Families will enjoy the Children’s Fair, petting zoo and train that circles the festival. The popular “Washer Women” of Logan will be on hand to demonstrate how washboards are used for laundry. More than a dozen washboard and related bands will perform each year.
The Columbus Washboard Company in Logan, Ohio is the last commercial manufacturer of washboards in North America and still cranks out 30,000 boards a year! Their largest customers include Ace Hardware, U.S. troops that are stationed overseas and musicians. Columbus Washboard also has the worlds largest washboard built in 1999, made of wood and metal, measuring 24′ tall and offers free public tours.
