Schmidt’s Columbus Oktoberfest is coming back this year to the Ohio State Fairgrounds! Join this epic festival that has something for anyone age 2 – 82! They are the only “weatherproof” event around (over 100,000 square feet of covered space); so you can eat, drink, polka and never get wet!

The Festival

Tasty food, lively music, bountiful brews, and games galore. The Columbus Oktoberfest has it all.

  • Bier Halls – Featuring Ohio’s Craft Breweries in the Hofbräuhaus Hall. Try them all… Homestead, Saucy, Thirsty Dog, Taft’s, and Sideswipe.
  • Wine Garten
  • Kinderplatz – Children’s area
  • Marktplatz – arts/crafts, commercial area with over 85 vendors
  • Full entertainment line up on three stages,
  • Vier Meiler (4 miler run/walk event)
  • delicious brats, cream puffs and all the other traditional items you expect.

In conjunction with the Keg Tapping and run by M3S Sports
Featuring the music of Alphorn Grüezie

Gemutlichkeit Strength competition – Saturday Sept 10th

  • Steinstossen (Stone Throw) – Introduced in Germany in 1860 as a track and field event. Competitors hurl large stones weighing anywhere from 75lbs to 180lbs to see who can throw it the greatest distance.
  • Keg Press – In this competition, competitors see how many times they can press a loaded keg weighing anywhere between 175lbs and 225lbs above their head in 60 seconds.
  • Keg Hold – Competitors see who can hold a loaded keg out in front of them the longest.
    It’s the strongman’s stein hold!
  • Keg Toss – This event is all about raising the bar! Competitors heave a pony keg weighing anywhere from 25lbs to 45lbs as high as they can to clear the bar.
  • Steinheben (Bavarian stone lift) – This one is the grandaddy of them all! We use a 508lb stone, stick a handle in it and see how high our competitors can lift it. Sounds simple, its anything but!

  • Craft Bier Garten – Featuring Ohio’s Craft Breweries in the Hofbräuhaus Hall. Try them all… Homestead, Saucy, Thirsty Dog, Taft’s, and Sideswipe.
  • WineGarten – Try an expanded selection of wines in the Heidelberg Beer Hall.
